The Department of Electrical Engineering and Technology, since its formulation in 2004, has been imparting quality knowledge and skills of Electrical Engineering and Technology to its undergraduate students. Over the years, the department has gradually been evolving into its current state with advanced teaching methods, modern laboratory facilities, highly qualified faculty including PhDs, and an efficient administrative/ organizational setup. These advancements have resulted in the successful launch of MS and PhD Electrical Engineering programs in fall 2019 and the Master of Engineering Technology (Electrical) program in fall 2024. The department has been structured to have an Engineering section and a Technology section at the undergraduate level, in addition to the postgraduate programs. The adoption of Outcome Based Education (OBE) has been a major step forward for engineering education in Pakistan. Since the accreditation of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) with the Washington Accord, this system has transformed our education system from conventional input-based systems to an internationally accepted OBE system. This allows all stakeholders of the education system to contribute to the development of the engineering curricula. Based on the recommendation of PEC and in line with the university’s mission and vision, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Technology, GCUF has adopted this system with effect from spring 2019. Another milestone achieved by the department is the re-accreditation of the BS Electrical Engineering program (intake batch 2018-2022) at OBE level-II. Similarly, the OBE system has been adopted by the Technology section as per guidelines of National Technology council (NTC) with effect from fall 2020. The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) program has been accredited by NTC up until session 2021-2025.
